A few minute farmer

Near my home a farmer was working in his field, collecting wheat bundles and dumping at a place. One day I just observed him, while some children were helping him by collecting wheat bundles one at a time. The next day I saw the same farmer along with another villager doing the same work together. The task being an easy one, I decided to help them in collecting the wheat bundles and therefore approached them. They were much greeted but tried to stop me from working, saying my clothes will get dirty, or dust will stick to my body etc. But I said no, let me help you, there is no need to worry about me or my clothes. So I started helping them with their work. After collecting a few bundles and hardly after 5 minutes I realized, “that it’s not as easy as I thought”, and Mr. Helper is in trouble. Realizing my breathing condition and the sweat on my face, the farmer again said, it’s too much for me and offered me some water to drink. But looking the ages and condition of both the farmers...

Why one is 1, two is 2?

Image
While surfing I found an interesting article with the title Why one is 1 two is 2. The article was about the logic of numbers we use in our daily routine businesses, i.e., 1, 2,3….0. These numbers are known as " Arabic " numbers Ever wondered why 1 mean one, 2 means two. It is the logic of angles that exists in Arabic Algorithm. The Arabs popularized these numbers but they were originally used by the early Ponecian traders to count and keep track of their trading accounts.   From the figures above we can easily understand that number 1 is having one angle, 2 is having 2 and so on… Coming finally to zero we find that 0 has no angle and therefore zero is 0!!! Interesting isn’t it?

Beyond Trillions/ کھربوں کے بعد

Image
While working with numbers, a thought just came into my mind that what would we call, when we count above trillion or 10 Kharab in Urdu. For example, In Urdu when we start counting, we come across a scale that is; Ekai, Dahai, Sainkra, Hazar, Dus Hazar, Lakh, Dus Lakh, Crore, dus Crore, Arab, Dus Arab, Kharab and Dus Kharab or 1 trillion. Beyond Dus Kharab, 1 trillion, our counting turns into 100 Kharab, 1000 Kharab or 10 trillion, 100 trillion etc. the reason, because we usually don’t know, what 100 Kharab is called. Luckily, I was able to find  terms used for figure above 10 Kharab (1 trillion) , which sorted as per the scale are as follow; Urdu (Roman)  اردو Figure (Power Notation) English Ekai اکاءی 1                     ...

Pukhtoonwali – پختون ولی

Pukhtoonwali is a code of honor of the Pukhtoon social structure. Pukhoonwali broadly consists of three principles, Melmastia (Hospitality), Badal (Revenge) and Nanawatey (Repentance Over Past Hostility and Grant of Asylum). Every individual of Pukhtoon society is expected to abide these principles. The non-observance of principles of Pukhtoonwali is considered disgraceful, and disgrace is considered as the biggest punishment in the Pukhtoon society. 1. Melmastia (Hospitality) میلمستیہ Pukhtoons are considered as one of the most hospitable people in the world. Melmastia or hospitality is one of the finest virtue of Pukhtoon culture. A Name for NWFP-Identity for Pukhtoon داپختون شناخت - پختون ولی یا پختونخواہ

I was never in the favour or against the changing of the name of NWFP to Pukhtoonkhwa, Pukhtoonistan, Afghania or any other such kind of name. To me there were many more important issues than changing the name of province such as Peace & stability, avaiablily of basic necessaties of life to the people of NWFP. People who were in favour of changing the name, had the logic that everyone in Pakistan have their identities in the form of provincial name that represents them such as Punjab for Punjabis, Sindh for Sindhis and Balochistan for Balochis. Similary they wanted to have Pukhtoonkhwa for Pukhtoons. It was quite a justified logic which I don't oppose but in my opinion Punjab is not know Punjab because of Punjabis but Punjabis are known because of Punjab (the land of five rivers). Similarly Sindh is not known because of Sindhi people but the Sindh (indus) river and the people living in that area are called Sindhis because of living in Sindh. In case of Pukhtoons, they are not k...

Who are Hungry?

Going to my school, college and then office in the morning, I always wondered to see people eating heavy food during the breakfast time. I had my selfmade opinion about those rice, choley, nihari, paye etc. eating people, considering them as people of hungry nature (Bhookey Mazaj Waley), whose priorities are just to eat. I among friends, always discussed those people with fun, however, the facts made me to change my opinion. During my professional life, for sometime I had to travel from one city to another, and so many time I had to travel at night. I used to start my journey from one city at night and reach the destination before the fajar/morning prayer, while sometime I used to reach even before the Azan/call of the fajar/morning prayer. This night travel exposed me to another face of working life. I came across people, who were not bound by the usaual 9 to 5 working hour. They were the people whose professional responsibilties starts from mid night and lasts till early morning. The...

Becoming Superman...A wish

I remember when I was a child of about 5-6 year, one day I started insisting to my mother that I want to become superman and she will have to do this by all means. As stubborn child I continued my insisting that she will have to make me Superman. Being a loving and caring mother, she always tried her best to fulfill all my possible wishes. But this wish was certainly not possible to be fulfilled. My mother tried to explain me, how I could become Superman. She told me, that I can only become Superman when I reach to the age of 10 because till that time my bones will be strong enough to stop a train with my power and at the same time I will easily fly. I was satisfied with the answer and agreed to wait for a few more years. By the age of 10, I was sensible enough to understand what the reality of Superman is, just a comic hero and nothing else, and surly becoming Superman was no more my wish. Today when I remember all this, I realize that…”How stupid my wish was” and “How wise was my mot...

Obama-The Winner of Noble Peace Prize

Image
I remember when there were some schools in our time where the children of the rich were the one who always came first in their class, irrespective of their performance in study. The reason behind this was, that the school administration had to give prize to the position holder i.e. a book, pen, pencil or a plastic cup etc., and for the school administration it was hard to find a worthy student for the prize. Usually the poor students were the one who were good in studies but being poor they were not eligible for the prize, therefore the children of rich and mighty always used to be position holder. The winning of prize definitely gives satisfaction irrespective of its value, but it gives real satisfaction when the winner feels that he really deserve it. I am sure Obama will be surprised and shocked and will definitely think and laugh at the real joke that h append with him in the form of Noble Peace Prize. The winner of Noble Peace Prize is the President of a country that is famous for ...

Gaza-Where Terrorists Tests their Weapon

Image
The experiments of testing advance weapons made by Americans and Israelis virtually came to halt in the laboratory of Gaza. The experiments heavily funded by Americans Tax payer’s money were aimed at gauging the effect of new weapons over living and un-living objects. The result includes over 1300 dead , and around 5000 injured . About 20000 buildings were destroyed including houses of Palestinians, markets, offices, schools, roads and other infrastructure. These experiments were the continuation of previous tests carried out in Lebanon. The results of these experiments are quite satisfactory for all those people who are involved in making, funding, supplying, using and supporting the use of the weapons against Palestinians.  Surely, the successful tests will revive the weapon industry and give a boom to the economies of those countries that heavily rely on sale of weapons of mass destruction. The arms making factories will work again and the people working in these factories will be ...

Collective Isolation-Bringing closer or Getting far

I belong to a small village and living in a city. Like most of the people in the city, I depict to be a busy person who is having little time for social interaction despite having a lot of free time. Simply, in materialistic environment, with having a lot of people around us, we are living a self made physical and mental isolation. Being busy, having no time, tight schedule, less interaction, these are terms that became fashion words in this time of deceptive world. But alone we all think that we cannot leave alone, we need people around us to talk with, to share with, to lesson to whom but our masked faces restrict us from doing so as we may be called backward people living in the world of fantasies. I rarely go to my village, usually two to four times a year and that is mostly on Eid or some other occasions. Despite having very much little interaction with the local people I always got very warm response from them. This is something we usually don’t see in the cities. On the main roa...

Taliban: Is This The Right Term

Will somebody feel offended if you call him Talib or say you and your friends are Taliban. Surely not, If he know what does Talib or Taliban means. But why this word has got so much hatred and why it is abused, why Taliban are always called terrorists. As we know that Taliban is used for that group of students of religious institutions in Afghanistan who raised against the evils in their country and to provide justice to the people and gradually became able to form their government in Afghanistan. These students of religious institutions are commonly called Talibs as the word Talib does actually means student. While the plural of Talib (student) is Taliban (students). So the army of these students (talibs) were givens the  name Taliban (students). After the incidents of 911, the Taliban were declared terrorist by USA, and since then for all terrorist activities within Afghanistan and Pakistan Talibans are held responsible. We generally hear that Taliban have captured that village, Tal...

Unforgettable Farewell

About six years ago, after the fall of Saddam regime in Iraq, people came to the streets and gathered in the central square of Baghdad where a big statue of Saddam Hussain was brought down to the earth and people started beating the fallen statue on their shoes. The media in whole world broadcasted those footage, terming it as the insult of an ousted dictator, while presenting the americans as Hero. Now after six years, the American President Mr.Bush (the person who gave "Freedom" to the people of Iraq from the Saddam regime) is leaving his office. Before leaving the office, he did made a farewell visit to the "Free and stable" country of Iraq. During a press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister, the "Hero" of Iraqi people, was greeted by a thankful Iraqi with both of his shoes. Commenting on this act, the Mr.Bush, the freedom giver , said that he don't know why that man thrown the shoes on him. May be he really don't know. But in my thinking, th...

Funny Indian Media

Once I was a fond viewer of some Indian TV serials. But with the pessage of time I realized that the producers/directors/writers of these serials do not have any plot. Their amature way of direction, script writing, and acting, oh my God, this is something over which I've wasted a lot of time of mine. The hilarious way of direction and camera work, turn a serious serial/program in a funny production. Now when i want to laugh, I start watching an indian serial or movie of Indian South. To the extent of serials and movies its fine. But during the Mumbai terrorism activities, I came to watch some Indian News channels. The way they were presenting news and reports, made me feel that I am watching some clips of a stupid Indian propaganda movie. I personally respect Indian people because of their intelligence but when I think of that such intelligent people will watch these news channels and will believe on them, I just feel sorry for them. In my suggestion, to the extent of funny news, ...

Why Need for Islamic Bomb?

The nuclear experiment by a sovereign state Pakistan like other countries created an issue in western media. The issue of "Islamic Bomb", or a nuclear bomb in the hands of muslims. But why there came the need of making an Islamic Bomb? To know the answer we need to go back into history that is not old. There we see that intially a "Christian Nuclear Bomb" was made. Gradually the number of countries having "Christian Nuclear Bomb" increased. Similarly, other countries have also got their "Budhist Bomb", "Jewish Bomb" and finally "Hindu Bomb". So the missing in the rack was "Islamic Bomb", and definetly was the need of the time, therefore it was made. I am sure now no need to worry.
Pukhtoon are the Proud of Pakistan & are Proud of Pakistan.
